Family Selection

Delaware County Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry dedicated to eliminating substandard housing and homelessness in Delaware County, Ohio. We want to make adequate, affordable shelter a matter of conscience and action. Delaware County Habitat for Humanity invites people from all faiths and walks of life to work together in partnership, building houses with families in need.

Basic Requirements:

  • Applicant(s) must currently be living in substandard housing (overcrowded, leaking roof, unsafe conditions, inadequate plumbing, dangerous neighborhood, cost burdened, etc.)
  • Applicant(s) must have steady income of 30% of the Median Family Income for Delaware County (in 2009 it was $20,580.00 for a family of 4)
  • Income should not exceed 30-50% of the median income for Delaware County. This amount varies by family size:

    • Family of 1     $14,400.00       $24,000.00
    • Family of 2     $16,470.00       $27,450.00
    • Family of 3     $18,510.00       $30,850.00
    • Family of 4     $20,580.00       $34,300.00
    • Family of 5     $22,230.00       $37,050.00
    • Family of 6     $23,880.00       $39,800.00
    • Family of 7     $25,530.00       $42,550.00
    • Family of 8     $27,180.00       $45,300.00
  • Applicant(s) must have satisfactory credit history.
  • Applicant(s)’ debt/income ratio must be reasonable.

Application Process:

Application meetings are held three times a year—January, May and September. If you are interested in applying for housing through our program, please call the office 740-363-9950 and ask to have your name put on the application list. You will be notified by letter of the time and place for the meeting and told what documentation to bring with you. If you have questions, please call the office.
